On January 18, 2025, HbcCare partnered with the Fatty Liver Alliance, KNS Canada, and the Bangladeshi Canada Association of Calgary to host a liver health initiative at the Bangladeshi Winter Festival in Calgary. Along with the educational brochures on hepatitis and "knowledge wheel" game for the participants, HbcCare brought an interactive liver model, and on-site Fibroscan screenings for 98 community members, alongside personalized consultations provided by liver specialist Dr. Mark Swain. Over 120 surveys were conducted during the event, offering valuable insights into community perceptions and knowledge about liver disease while raising awareness about liver health. The event emphasized cultural sensitivity, with female technicians conducting scans for women, ensuring a welcoming environment for all attendees. The initiative successfully engaged the community, with attendees expressing strong interest in liver health education. This event highlighted the importance of community-driven health initiatives and laid a strong foundation for future outreach efforts.
