Breaking Barriers to Liver Health: HbcCare in Bangladesh Fest & Multicultural Heritage Street Fest 2024

On July 13-14, 2024, the HbcCare team participated in the Bangladesh Fest & Multicultural Heritage Street Fest at Prairie Winds Park, Calgary, to promote liver health awareness among the Bangladeshi community. The two-day event featured an interactive "knowledge wheel" game, where attendees answered liver health-related questions, and distributed educational materials on hepatitis B and C. Over 400 attendees engaged with the booth, with 150 participating in the game and 85 signing up for future events. Feedback highlighted the need for on-site screenings, more frequent awareness programs, and culturally sensitive education. The event successfully raised awareness and fostered community engagement, setting the stage for future initiatives to improve liver health in underserved populations.
